I’ve finally given up on the factory stereo in my 1991 Buick Skylark, and I am putting together a new stereo. I am on a poor college student budget, and this is what I have so far:
Pioneer Car CD Receiver DEH-P4700MP with all related adapters. I actually got it from Crutchfield.
Lightning Audio Bolt 4" 90-Watt Coaxial Speaker, B2.40.2. This is the Wal-Mart brand, made by Fosgate. They weren’t available for demo, but the 6x9 Lightning Audios sounded a bit better than the 6x9 Pioneers, so I went with the Lightning Audio 4’s.
Sony XS-V6941H X-Plod 6x9s (Sorry, I can’t find a website for these. I got them at Wal-Mart.)
My car only has four speakers to replace, so these cover that aspect, but I’d really like to get an amp and subs. I don’t want anything that’s going to be top of the line (with price tags to match), but I would like something that’s going to sound nice for me when I’m driving to and from school. I don’t listen at really high volumes, but I want it to sound good at medium volumes.
If you could post a link to subs and/or an amp that are low priced (less than $75 for the amp gives you an idea as to the price range that I’m looking at), I’d really appreciate it. I’d be willing to purchase used part (i.e. from eBay) if they’re from a reliable vendor.
Thanks!
