Help me re-decorate a room

We own an Arts & Crafts era house with beautiful woodwork, stained glass windows, and a couple unused bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is my music/game room. Currently I’ve got bookshelves filled with board games, the walls have guitars and fun art on them, there’s a kidney-shaped retro couch, some Haywood-Wakefield-esque tables, some Red Wing pottery and an aquamarine blue on the walls. Here’s a picture with our bulldog who likes to perch herself on the couch and watch the world go by.

Tonight, we’re hiring a professional painter to paint several rooms in the house, including this one. (The aquamarine color was just a bit too sharp after a while and didn’t flow well with the other rooms.) We’ve picked out several colors for the other rooms and I really liked Bunglehouse Blue for this room.

My main inspiration for the room is the Chicago World’s Fair from 1933. Especially this poster. There’s something about it that’s just near the end of Art Deco/Art Nouveau while still holding onto that grandeur.

With all of that said, I need to do some things to bring the room up to speed. First, the rug, the tables, the lamp, and the sofa are going to the garage sale this weekend. I’m just not sure what to replace them with. I really like modern lines, but I figured that something a bit more period would tie it in to the rest of the house. And it has to be something that either won’t show dog fur badly, i.e. no black sofas. (Yeah, I know it doesn’t have to tie in, but it really looks odd now while it doesn’t.) So I’m looking for a couch, rug, table, lamp, and probably some new bookcases and random knickknacks too.

Would love any input.

The wall color should look good with the poster, although you could also use “coffee” or dull red.
Have you looked at Mission style furniture? It has some really clean lines that can almost look modern.
