My brother goes to a private school where they make the students buy all of their own textbooks. My mother normally buys them for him used, then sells them to the students again the next year. However, they’ve just changed a bunch of the textbooks that will be used next year, so she can’t sell them to the rising seventh graders.
So I want to try selling them online. Which site should I use? Ebay? Something else? How do I do that?
I also recommend half.com, bearing in mind that they will be transitioning into eBay (their parent company) in October.
You can also try www.facultybooks.com. I get a lot of textbooks from publishers because I teach English and I just sell them there because I can’t use most of them. I don’t think you need to be a prof to use the site. They will also send free shipping materials, pay for the UPS charges, and then send you a check. Not a bad deal.
A third reccomendation for half.com here. I just listed my college books on it last week (about 6 of them) and have already sold three. One of them just today. The thing is, since the textbooks you’re selling are secondary level books as opposed to college, you won’t have as many buyers, as most schools provide the books for the students. Anyway good luck to your brother. (I’m not sure if it’s against board policy, so you might want to check before you do it, but if it’s okay you should post the link to the books in case any dopers need/want them.)
