Help me with a Facebook problem!

This has a real practical answer, but since “Facebook Help Center” is a contradiction in terms, I’m coming here…

I am a FB lurker–I never post on my wall or TL or whatever it’s called, I mostly just Like & Comment on things other Friends post.

Recently, logging in, FB said I could choose a couple Super Special Friends (don’t remember the exact term) that I could get quicker notifications on. So I selected a few whom I follow the closest.

Little did I realize that this would mean getting an e-mail for every post they put up! In some cases, it’s no big deal because they contribute infrequently. But a couple people I selected post all the time, so my e-mail Inbox is filling up with every single thing they FB.

Now these are friends, so I don’t want to unfriend them. I just want to remove them from Super Special status and stop those e-mails. But I can’t find anything in my Account settings, in the Help Center, in the various Friend buttons and tabs to indicate how to do this.

HELP!!! Dopers, you’re my only hope.

Look in the upper right corner for the tiny white triangle to next to the “home” link. Click it and go to account settings, then on the left look for the notifications link where you’ll be able to tell FB when/if/how often you want email notifications. easy peasy.

I did that but there still is not a listing of, person by person, a distinction between Super Special status and regular status. Only the option to Unfriend altogether. Which I don’t want to do.

I want to get the e-mails for the people who post infrequently. Just not the ones who post incessantly (again, among the subset so Super Special status that I already picked). I was able to cherry pick them before, but see no way of doing it now.

Similarly, if I want to add someone to Super Special status, I see no way of doing that either.

Try:
On the left, click More, click Close Friends
Now on the top right, click Notifications, click Off.

Thank you, that led me in the right direction.

For some reason, even though I only had 9 people in this Super Special status, the toolbar on the left said I had 20+ “Close Friends”, which is why I thought it meant something else.

But “Close Friends” it is, so once in there, I could add or remove people from that status easily.

It’s annoying how FB has settings all over the place (I’m beginning to think they’re doing it on purpose)

It was saying you had 20+ un-read posts in your “Close Friends” list (even if you had read those posts via email or via your regular feed).
