Help me with Google Rewards and Google Play on Android Phone.

So I have Google Rewards app on my phone. Accumulated about 11 bucks. This is attached to what we’ll call my “Rewards” google account that do nothing with but accumulating (and hopefully using) Google Rewards money.

Problem is, when I go to buy something, it pops up a payment screen and uses another google account (my “Main” account for email and calendar) that has no google rewards. At that point, I can’t switch it to another account, i’m stuck with $0 google rewards balance

Things I’ve tried:

  1. In the google play app it lists all the google accounts on your phone. You can select that account, but that doesn’t work. Still tries to use the “main” account when I try to buy something. I can’t find a way to delete the “main account” from Google Play.

  2. Unsynced my “main” account from everything but gmail and calendar (I need those). Nope.

  3. Gone into Google Pay and removed all my payment methods from the “main” account. Nope. In fact it still tries to use a credit card that is no longer associated with that account.

  4. Deleted the “main” account from my phone entirely. This worked in terms of having the google rewards from the other account available, but is not viable since I need the “main” account on my phone.

Any suggestions?

Could you try setting up a family sharing account?

Log into Google Play with your rewards account online, purchase what you want, share it with your main account.

I tried that, unfortunately, my “Main” account is already on a family sharing account. I get youtube red, google play music, etc. so I don’t want to give that up.

Can you add your rewards account to it?

Looks like you can transfer the funds to a debit card:

I don’t really want to do that.

I guess unless I can find a better way I’ll just remove my main account off the phone whenever I want to make a purchase. PITA but better than nothing.

What are you purchasing? If it’s something you aren’t using on your phone, why not just go through the website instead?

Mostly mobile game microtransactions.
