I’m going to Vegas in a few weeks and I need some ideas for my Vegas iPod playlist. So far, I have most of the obvious songs:
classic jazz/lounge
Assortment of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennet, Tom Jones and some others. Mostly lifted from soundtracks to movies like Swingers, Oceans Eleven, Casino, etc.
dance/club/pop
Flashing Lights - Kanye West
I’ve Got a Feeling - Black Eye Peas
Live Your Life - TI and Rihanna
Poker Face - Lady Gaga
Right Round (Benny Bennassi Remix) - Flo Rider
Waking up in Vegas - Katy Perry
Rock
Leaving Las Vegas - Sheryl Crow
Viva Las Vegas - Elvis Presley
Viva Las Vegas - ZZ Top
electronica
High Roller - The Crystal Method
Ready Steady Go - Paul Oakenfold
Smartbomb - BT
Starry Eyed Surprise - Paul Oakenfold
Vapor Trail - The Crystal Method
Classic Hip Hop
C.R.E.A.M. - Wu Tang Clan
It’s All About the Benjamins - P Diddy (or whatever the hell he calls himself)
Mo’ Money Mo’ Problems - Notorious BIG
Still Not a Player - Big Punisher
I also have Stu’s Tiger Song from The Hangover
“Tumbling Dice” by the Rolling Stones
“Rambling, Gambling Man” by Bob Seger
“Do It Again” by Steely Dan
“Roll the Bones” by Rush
“I’m Gonna Win” by Foreigner
“Money (That’s What I Want)” by the Beatles or Barrett Strong
If you dare to go on the Insanity ride at the top of the Stratosphere, you will enjoy the fact that they very wittily play Crash by The Primitives while everyone is being strapped in. At least, they did when I went on it. So you could add that to your playlist. (Personally, I think I’d have played ‘This Corrosion’ by Sisters of Mercy.)
You should also definitely add some good ‘flying over the Grand Canyon and taking in the breathtaking views’ music. May I suggest that this works rather well, particularly approaching twilight.
