Help me write an invitation...

The wife and I are both in our late twenties and have fond memories or our parents belonging to small bridge clubs/groups. Now we’re the grown-ups and there’s no bridge groups in sight - absolutely none of our friends do anything social like this. (Shades of that Bowling Alone book)

So, t’ellwidd’em, we’ll do it ourselves. I’m trying to write up a small page for posting in the local coffee shops, library and whatnot looking for other couples 25-35 for small social game gatherings. However, I’m having a read hard time coming up with something to write.

I’m shooting for just a single page with those little ‘tear-off’ thingies at the bottom. I’ve got a few rough drafts if you are interested.

In conclusion, I need help! Any and all pointers, tips, or advice encouraged and accepted.

Forgot to post an example:

The only thing I’d change would be the art – don’t have both reds on the left and both blacks on the right. Usual order is (lowest to highest) clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades – or you could put both reds or both blacks in the middle. It will balance the page better.

(Oh – content? sorry – we’re starting up a slew of new puzzle magazine titles at work and my first thought is “what does the page look like?”)

Content seems fine – doesn’t make you look like weirdos or swingers or anything kinky, which would be my concern.

How do you propose to meet the new people? Any kind of screening before you have them in your home? I was doing the internet dating thing all fall and the “first meeting for coffee in a public place” rule is pretty well established. You may want to think that through a little.

Looks attractive to me. I’d second the “first meeting in a public place” theory. I wonder if the Parks & Rec would let you use a building, or maybe the Library?
