I think you might have something running that is not supposed to be run. Not necessarily a virus, but some leftover program. Netscape is notorious for being leftover in memory after the user exits the program. I suggrest that you get PRCView. This little program details all processes and programs running on your computer, including those that don’t show up on the CTRLALTDEL Window. If a non-MS program is running in the background, it is more likely that that is the culprit.
Thanks for the interesting info in this thread, guys. I also occasionally have this problem (running ME) and thought it might be related to Norton’s Utilities running in the background. Interesting that capacitor mentions Nutscape - I do run 4.7 occasionally…maybe that is it. Going to check this out. Cheers !
