Help screech-owl save the environment! (swamp-tromping for a cause)

Okay folks, there are bowl-athons, walk-a-thons and AIDS bike rides. I am asking for your help with my company’s Bird-A-Thon.

A Bird-A-Thon is the major fund-raising project for National Audubon Society; money raised helps Audubon restore and preserve wetlands and vital habitats for birds, other animals and plants necessary to the various eco-systems, funds environmental educational programs for more than a million children nationwide, and funds research programs including “Project Puffin” (studying puffins in Maine), the “Important Bird Areas” (identifying critical habitat) and studying migration routes of hundreds of species.

You can sponsor me anywhere from 5¢, 10¢, 25¢, 50¢, $1.00, to whatever amount you wish, per bird species sighted in a 24-hour period. Last year, our group alone saw 122 species in the Central Florida region. Or if you wish, you may make a flat donation. Donations are tax-deductible (full information to follow in the completion letter I send to you).

This means, on March 31, 2001, I will be looking for owls at 4:30 a.m., sparrows at 7 a.m., seagulls at noon, whooping cranes at 4 p.m., and whip-poor-wills at dusk. That’s a full day of bird-watching for this little owl. (Forest, swamps and sandy beaches, all within an hour of my house! At least, unlike a Bowl-A-Thon, I can wear my own shoes, though they’ll probably be just as grotty afterwards!)

If you wish to sponsor me per species, make a flat donation or make a pledge to be completed later, please let me know via e-mail: I’ll give you my name and work address (all monies are collected at the office - I’ll send it via e-mail rather than cluttering the boards with personal information). You will receive a personal thank-you letter from me indicating tax-deductible status, as well as a follow-up list of birds we saw. Or you can pledge on-line. If you pledge on-line, let me know ahead of time so I can be credited with your donation!

I know this is short notice, but my doctor has given me a conditional release to participate, and I am really excited to go bird-watching again. I don’t ask for much, but the birds are important to me (check my homepage below my sig). Any questions, please ask!

OK…count me in for twenty cents American a species…yes I know I was in for 15 before… :Odie looks around:…yeah this is a bump, what’s it to ya?:\

Keith

I’ve made my pledge…and bump.
