Help settle a massive debate regarding what the best meal of all time is.

Roast turkey with all the trimmings.

If I could have only one thing for the rest of my life, it would suck.

But it would suck the least if pizza marguerite (sp?) was the thing.

Cassoulet for me.

Beef Rendang is the dish I have ordered most often at restaurants. I have probably had it at my favorite place 200 times. Over the years I have tried making it with maybe 10 different recipes. It is always good an often truly great.

Shrimp and Grits (Old Charleston style)

It’s got nearly all the important bases covered: seafood, pork sausage, chicken flavor, cheese, corn, hot pepper—and BACON!

To get that last base covered, serve it with a side of Philly Cheesesteak (with thin-sliced ribeye of course).

It’s a meal fit for [del]a king[/del]…[del]the gods[/del]…me.

Yes! There is nothing better than a good pizza.

Aw, c’mon, Superdude. Throw on a loin cloth and join me by the campfire for some Neptunian goodness. I’ve spent all afternoon milking a goat to make butter.

I’m sorry - but the correct answer is Rump roast with Yorkshire pudding with summer squash baked in butter and paprika.

In 1975, the New York Times food writer Craig Claiborne won a charity auction for a dinner anywhere in the world, with no limit on the cost, sponsored by American Express. He and another NYT writer named Pierre Franey went to a well-known Parisian restaurant where they had a five-hour meal with fois gras, truffles, caviar, lobsters, and wine (good wines, obviously), costing $4,000. (BTW, the winning bid was $300.)

So if you like French cuisine, that might qualify as the Best Meal Ever.

Pot roast with mashed potatoes and broccoli.

Obviously it’s tacos and specifically it’s obviously fruit tacos.

It’s possible to eat shellfish without being a savage. Switch to eating Stone Crabs. The sweat claw meat tastes like a cross between crab and lobster—only better. IMHO, it’s the real “king” of crabs. In a taste battle to the death, Stone Crabs snip the arms off Alaska Kings and beat lobsters over the head with them.

But, wait…there’s more!

Stone Crabs are a truly sustainablefood source. While you’re dipping the crustacean flesh in mustard sauce and melted butter, you can rest assure that Mr. Stony is still scampering about on the ocean floor. That’s right, crabbers just rip off one of the legs and throw the crusty amputee back in the water to grow another (don’t fret, he’s got 9 more limbs, which is 5 more than most of you).

I tried that with leg of lamb. It didn’t work out so well.

Here’s a happy camper.

No, no, no. The best taco is a tortilla baked flat in a wood-fired oven, covered with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and basil. It’s almost as good as a taco made by rolling up the tortilla, stuffing it with chicken and covering with enchilada sauce and cheese.

You’ve now inspired me to buy some tortillas this weekend and make a Reuben taco.

Pizza Margherita is weirdly specific. I’m not a big fan of it (I mean, I’ll eat if it’s there you know), it seems odd to put tomatoes on tomato sauce to me.

Umm… isn’t Ribeye steak sort of a thing all by itself?

From what’s left on the list, it would be a toss up between the Ribeye and Chicken Enchiladas.

I have lots of favorite foods, so adding to the list is tough. But one of my favorites is Mexican Lasagna. The other would be meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans.

I picked “ribeye” but I’m really using it as a surrogate for “filet”, which is my preferred cut of meat if we’re talking last meal kind of dinner.

Maybe there are actually more people like me that don’t like it?

Not being snooty–I really am surprised if there are a lot of people who don’t like lobster. Maybe some of those people who only like a few foods or people who just detest the texture of non-fish seafood.

But I’ve never seen anyone else who loves shrimp and crab that hated lobster. To the point I wonder if I need to try it again.

As for the poll, I don’t do well when I can add options. Especially with food. I love all sorts of food, so I need limited choices. Of the ones up there, I decided tacos.

Ribeye’s just so plain vanilla…personally, I’d prefer Prime Rib anyway.

Ultimately, though, Eggs Benedict is my thing, but the Hollandaise has to have enough lemon in it to be tart.

It might feel a little decadent, but you could ease yourself back in with a dish my father loves: lobster tail stuffed with crabmeat.
