I have a ton of info on one CD that I use at work and home. And I want to make a back-up of that CD. How do I take the info on that one CD and burn it to another CD? Can this be done?
Check to see if you have Adaptec/Roxio Easy CD Creator installed; it comes with many CD-r/rw drives. Easy CD creator has a CD copy function, just point and click. Most other CD burning programs have this as well.
You don’t say what CD burning software you are using, but virtually all of them have a “disc copy” option. If you have 2 CD drives you can just copy directly from one to the other. If your burner is the only drive you have, you’ll have to copy the CD image to your hard drive first, then copy that directory to the new CD.
I’m using NERO . I just installed it the other day…
This might not be much use, but usually Nero starts with a wizard which should make it real easy to copy a CD.
It depends which version of Nero, of course, but you should be able to find “Copy CD” as an icon and text on the left hand side of the wizard. It should then take you through the process which is basically like Fat Bald Guy said:
- Insert Original CD
- Wait for copying… (which it will do to a temporary directory on your hard disc)
- Insert Blank CD
- Wait for burning
It worked!! cool! - wow lifes simple pleasures…doesn’t take much to impress me!
As much as I want to do it, I just can’t …
Also, if you’re using XP, you can just “drag and drop” to copy files to the CD.
