Been using TB for years, always comes up with my saved password.
Suddenly today, it won’t get mail. It asks for my password, I put it in, and get a “failed” message. Same password have always used. Tried putting it in a couple times more, still won’t work.
I went to Security, Passwords and deleted them, to start over.
Now when I try to Get Mail, still getting the same request for a password, but it won’t take it. I have done nothing since yesterday to have this problem.
I can got to Firefox with no problem, but now I can’t get TB mail. I checked the password box and now there are none, as I did remove them.
I just started my laptop, and the exact same thing happens. Anybody else having this problem? Any idea what’s wrong and how to fix it? I can neither receive nor send email now.
Help!!!
Have you tried to log in to the web-accessible version of your email accounts, to make sure there is not actually a problem with your password? In that the system is not sending back “sorry wrong password” when you try to log in, because your password is wrong, and TB is deleting the incorrect passwords?
Can you send/receive mail from ANOTHER email client?
I had that happen recently, and it was simply because my ISP changed their server names.
I had a similar problem with Thunderbird a while back, and it turned out that the problem was with my university’s email server. After a few hours, everything was OK again.
It’s been a LONG time (a few years) since I had something similar, but I do remember when my ISP (shaw.ca) was having e-mail problems one time I was getting bad password messages even though my password was fine (and worked again when they got their act together).
It is also conceivable you’ve been hacked. Try calling up your ISP and doing whatever is necessary to get a new password.
Interesting ideas, but I can log in to anything else with Firefox with my Cox cable ISP, and all other passwords are saved and work.
Maybe it is Cox, so will wait a while. I can receive and send mail with Cox, Hotmail and Yahoo all right, so don’t think it is that…
Frustrating, as I really like TB, but something is weird all right.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a while.
