Help tracing quote

I recently read it on a professional blog I frequent. The blog author attributed it to Justice Potter Stewart, but noted that he couldn’t find any citations for that. I can’t even find the original form of the quote, much less who said it.

It goes something along the lines of “I could never get my work done in twelve months a year, but never had trouble getting it done in eleven.”

Interestingly, this slightly different version:

is here attributed to Brandeis.

ETA: Google books indicates the quote’s on page 34 of Louis D. Brandeis: A Life by Melvin Urofsky but the preview for that page wasn’t available to me.

ETA2: You can search for and find the quote inside the book on Amazon.
