Help! Where did my desktop toolbar go?

So I’ve got a PC laptop that has one of those embedded toolbars that disappears off the end of your screen (in my case, the left side) but if you put your cursor/arrow all the way to the end, it pops up to show you all the different programs you have open or documents that you’re working on, even if they’re currently minimized. This toolbar also includes the prompt for shutting down and/or rebooting the computer, which is otherwise not visible on the desktop.

So, for some reason, while my computer was in sleep mode, this toolbar disappeared. When I put the cursor all the way to the far left…Nothing. Ditto when I move it to the other 3 extremities. Nothing. It’s gone. Programs I have open I can’t access. Documents I have open are unreachable.

Where did it go? How can I get it back? Do I have to do a hard restart (push the glowing button on my keyboard) or is there some magic trick I can to resume things as normal?

Thanks for any guidance or advice. Sincerely,

CompuDummy (aka MM)

Hmm…If you press the Windows key on your keyboard, does the Start menu pop up? If so, does it cause the toolbar to re-appear?

Hooray! That did it! As strictly an analog guy, I’m exceedingly grateful. Thanks!

Wow. Lucky guess on my part. Glad it worked.
Sometimes you just have to go with the 1s and 0s…and show them who is boss!

Actually, that was the very first solution that popped into my head. That’s what that key was made for in the first place.
