This novel was published in the late 1980s or early 1990s, kind of a big push as a first novel. Horror/supernatural thriller about a high school boy who, at the end of the school year, is going to meet his father in a castle (?) to discover his destiny. This boy has a crush on a boy on the swim team and they both end up going to meet Dad. There’s something about dogs (not quite werewolves, but -I think- really vicious Dobermans that chase one or both of the boys through the castle. Any clues would be appreciated. I’ve never seen anything else by the author (whose name I do not know either). Thanks.
