help with dvd error

I bought a dvd, and at a certain spot in the movie I got an error message. So I brought it back to the store and they gave me a brand new copy. At the same exact spot I got the error message again. I am using CyberLink PowerDvd player in Windows 98 to play the dvd. The error message I get (in the dvd program) is:
Error code: 8007000B
An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
I have found the problem is probably with one of the .VOB files on the dvd. (The other ones seem to be working.) I tried copying the file to my hard drive to see what I could do to fix it and got an error message from windows:
Cannot copy VTS_01_4: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
(VTS_01_4.VOB is the name of the problem file.) I downloaded a free trial version of another dvd player, and it won’t play that part of the dvd either.

Any ideas on how I can get it to play?

Try the disc on another player. If the error continues, it’s the disc. Try exchanging it again.

Bad lots of discs come out all the time. Check some of the big DVD-oriented message boards to see if others are having similar problems. If the problem is widespread enough, the manufacturer will probably arrange an exchange program.

Good luck.

What dvd are you trying to load?

Is it dual layer? Probably is.

Handy’s right. Even some stand-alone units freak out on dula layer discs. Especially at the layer jump.
