Help with song title/artist please

You know the one: hard driving rhythm, with a female vocal in the background hollering “I’ve got the power!” and “Everybody dance now!”

Thanks all.

Well, back in high school band, we called it ‘Everybody Dance Now.’

Was it… Miami Sound Machine?

CC + The Music Factory.
“Everybody Dance”

That’s my best guess.

Googling yields the proper title… “Gonna Make You Sweat”.

I think you are actually talking about two separate songs. The second is “Gonna Make You Sweat” by C+C Music Factory.

Wow, that’s a lot of posts at one time. I still think the “I’ve got the power” is from a different song, though.

Hmmm…perhaps it’s a mix that was done by someone. “Gonna Make You Sweat” seems to be part of it, but the version I’m thinking of has a much stronger punch.

And thanks to google, it looks like “I’ve got the power” comes from “The Power” by Snap. (Warning - obnoxious popups)

I think you’re right, Lisa. The ‘I’ve Got the Power’ line is sung in a way that’s entirely similar to a line in ‘Gonna Make You Sweat’… Hmmm. Whatever the name of the I’ve Got the Power song is, it was what Minerva was singing in the board room in Hudson Hawk.

Its Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) by C+C Music Factory.

Link to Amazon CD listing which shows the name of the song and has music samples.

I have the CD at home and had used it a number of times in the mid-late 90’s whiile DJing weddings and parties. I occaisionaly play it lastely if the bar’s been flowing well.

Lisa-go-Blind is correct–you’re thinking of two separate songs, and the other one is Snap’s “The Power.”

As everyone else has noted, the “Everybody Dance Now” song was “sung” by C + C Music Factory (the female vocals were actually sung by Martha Wash, but in Milli Vanilla style, she was uncredited and replaced by a lip-synching bimbo in the video).

Stylistically, the two songs could flow into one another pretty easily–maybe you heard a mix containing bits from both songs.

That should read “Milli Vanilli,” of course. :smack:

Nah, ‘vanilla’ pretty much covers it…
