I’ve heard this song at lots of clubs.

It has a fast, funky, hip hop kinda beat/sound. The lyrics go something like, “You got the power.” Female vocalist with a male rapper. Great dance tune.

Any ideas re: what this group is?

I think the group was Snap, and if I’m not mistaken, the name of the song is The Power

Bibliophile is correct. The song hit #2 in 1990. They also had a hit with “Rhythm Is a Dancer” (#5 in 1992).
