Help with unpacking items from a ZIP file: batch unzipping.

OK, i’m having a little bit of trouble with WinZip. It’s working fine, but there’s something i don’t know how to do—indeed, i don’t know if it can be done.

Here’s the situation. I have ten zip files, named mhendo01.zip through mhendo10.zip. I want to extract all the documents in all ten zip files to a single folder, with no sub-folders. That is, i want all the documents to appear together in a single folder, called mhendo.

Now, i can do this by opening one zip file at a time, and extracting to folder mhendo. But i’d like to be able to save time and mouse clicking by opening all ten folders at once. I tried selecting all the zip files, then right clicking and using the context menu:

WinZip > Extract to…, and then slecting the folder mhendo.

But when i do this, WinZip creates a new folder within mhendo for each zip file. So, the files are all extracted, but they are in folders named mhendo01, mhendo02, etc., and i have to then go and move them all to the single folder mhendo, and delete the subfolders.

Can anyone help me make this process more streamlined?

WinRAR will do this for you automatically. It’ll even add options to you right-click “Windows” (i.e explorer) menu so you can just select all the archive files, right click then select “Extract to (foldername)” or some such. Loads of other useful context stuff too. Also, it’ll handles near every archive and can repair zip or rar files to recover any undamaged files. Has nag screens similar to WinZip but doesn’t have a fixed trail period (but karma says you should register).

Excuse the numerous typos. :smack:

You know, i’ve had WinRar on my computer for ages, because i once had to extract some .rar files, but i’ve never used it for extracting plain .zip files. It works great.

Thanks for the advice.
