There is probably no answer to this…mostly because I’m not clear on details…but I’m hoping someone can help me out.
On Xmas day I was on the phone with an old friend of mine. Heck, we grew up together, we’re the same age, he’s only 1 week older than I am (Both born in 1964). The conversation turned to old TV shows. I remembered a show…perhaps a soap opera, I am not sure…that was on TV when I was very very young. There was a painting of (by my foggy memory) of an 18th century guy that used to talk to the characters. It was probably a ghost, but I don’t recall much but the talking painting. I’m wondering if anyone else remembers this?
(I suppose its prudent to mention I was in the Philadelphia/Delaware/New Jersey area as a kid and most of our shows on TV were broadcast from Philly).
My friend also didn’t remember this song I recall…it was about Spider-Man. I cannot remember who sang it, or all of the lyrics, but I do know they were in part ***“Whats the name of this funk?/ Spider-Man/ Whats the name of this funk?/ Try to catch him if you can…”***I’m looking for an MP3 or something I can send the guy to prove it exists! But if anyone can confirm that these things are not figments of my own imagination, I’d appreciate it.
No, it wan’t that show or the movie. I remember it came on around 12 or so…only because I used to watch Kimba the White lion around that time. (I was probably only 5 or 6).
The talking painting had a voice that i thought at the time, was spooky…and the whole thing creeped me out.
ETA: It looks like the song I linked to was not the one that was used in the show itself, but was a ‘dance remix’ released separately in 1975…but it still might be what you’re looking for
Haha…no its not that song either…this song was played on the radio. Damn…someone else told me who sang that song years ago, and i even found a link once (not to the song, but to the singer) but I cannot remember it or find it again.
The painting…maybe Dark shadows, but I recall the show in color, and Dark Shadows…at least in my youth was in B&W. I think…man, if I could only access those brain cells from long past!..
I remember a “Dark Shadow” type soap “Strange Paradise” which seemed to have been set in the 19th century or so, and it did have a prominent painting of someone, and I do remember a scene in which someone was speaking to the painting, but I don’t recall the painting responding.
