Herb Ritts passed away

The AP story

:frowning:

Damn.

:frowning:

Oh, shoot. I didn’t see this thread and just posted one in the Cafe.

I’m so shocked. I saw a marvelous (if small) exhibit of his work about two years ago. It had some incredibly fantastics work and inlcuded some shots of Michelle Pfeiffer in drag that proved that she’s uber-sexy as awoman OR a man!

I am so seriously bummed out. His work was truly exhilarating.

:frowning:

I loved his work. It inspired me to try black and white film, to play with the light.

just want to throw a little posthumous shout out to Herb–

your photos of celebs were the best.

it’s a schlocky business shooting stars, one that i really don’t care too much about–i don’t read vanity fair-- but herb, you did it right.

you had the feel. and made them seem real. thanks

Bummer. I always enjoyed his work.

He also directed (IIRC) the Janet Jackson video for “Love Will Never Do Without You” and Madonna’s “Cherish” - original, distinctive work.

Amazingly talented individual. Art has lost a scion. Rest in peace, Mr. Ritts.

:frowning:

“Scion” doesn’t mean what I thought it meant.

Art has lost a master.
