In Fear Factory’s New Breed along with several other songs, there is a sample that says, “Here are the thrillseekers, corrupt and immoral.” Where is that from? I’m kind of thinking it’s from that anti-marijuana propoganda documentary from the government in the 50’s, Reefer Madness, but I’m not certain. Searching on Yahoo, I see other people have asked too but no one can answer it.
I made a small mistake. It’s from Genetic Blueprint, which is a remix of New Breed.
Don’t know, but I’ve heard that clip elsewhere. But I think it was “These are the thrillseekers. . . .”
My Google-fu yields no joy; a lot of references to the phrase, but no original attribution. Damn it, this is going to bug me all day. But I have faith in Dopers.
Dunno about the sample, but Tell Your Children (a.k.a. “Reefer Madness”) was released in 1936 and the government had nothing to do with its production.
You’re right. I found out it was in the public domain after starting this thread and started downloading it. It’s not even a documentary really. It’s a fictional story, still containing propoganda. I think I heard that quote in a drug documentary though, one of those you watch in health class in middle school that talks about how all drugs will destroy your life the first time you take them, etc. I’m not sure though.
And the quote is, “Here are the thrill-seekers.” I just listened to it to make sure.
Nobody knows this one?
No. At first I was thinking it was something from a Russ Meyer trailer, but listening to the song and then the announcer for the Russ Meyer trailers, it’s definitely a different voice. So, my guess was off. --Good Luck.
I recognize the voice, I think that it is a quote from Edward R Murrow. Do a search for one of his newscast. What do you guys think?
Zombie I guess.
That line sounded familiar. This web page says it’s from the movie Too Much, Too Often, a Doris Wishman movie, not Russ Meyers. The link on the page is to a NSFW trailer, maybe the line is in there.
Ten years and the question remains unanswered. I guess finding the Higgs boson was easier than finding the origin of this quote.
I think TriPolar may have answered this in the post just above yours. I watched the trailer (NSFW) linked to in his answer and the full quote is not there but from the style of the trailer, I bet it is the movie.
I was going to say I don’t recall it from new breed. Guess I don’t need to give it a listen…
I’m going to give it a listen!
Also, I associate this line from Dub Pistols “Cyclone”. If I wasn’t on my phone I’d link it; I’m pretty sure it would just turn to gibberish if I tried at this time.
Supposedly, “Too Much, Too Often!”
Oops, typed too soon. All film trailers mentioned below are NSFW. I found them when watching the trailer playlist of the film I erroneously listed above.
The words “Here are the thrillseekers. Corrupt and immoral” can be heard in the trailers for these two 60s sexploitation films:
The Sex Perils of Paulette
Female voice, “Corrupt and immoral” continues as full sentence.
A Taste of Flesh
Male voice
“Here are the thrillseekers” is also said by a different male voice in the trailer for Bad Girls Go To Hell, but the bg music is so loud it’s worthless as a sample.
Somewhat related, the “thrillseeker / kill for a thrill” samples in Ministry’s “So What” are from the film The Violent Years. That’s what came to mind when I first read the op.
That looks so cheesy. I might have to see if I can find it and watch it.
“A taste of Flesh” 1967
been looking for this one for years
