You guys think you have it bad here in the Pit: imagine what it’s like to have to deal with her in GD, where it half the time its painfully apparent that she doesn’t even read what she’s replying to, and her participation generally just tosses threads off into complete nonsense.
The other half of the time, she’s making utterly absurd claims like that the OT doesn’t proscribe the death penalty for things.

I’m guessing the Pitee is probably pretty young. At least too young to realize that the other schlubs around her are probably as smart and interesting as she is.
We have a wide range of ages of employees at my job. The young kids ignore us old folks. Us old folks took a vote who would have the most interesting tales to tell. We all pretty much agreed it was one guy that is probably in his sixties. It took me a long time to realize that all that nifty, edgy, deep shit I was thinking/reading/spewing was the same nifty, edgy deep shit the pompous youths of generations past were doing.
I’ve never had the honor of having a pit thread, but I have had my ass on fire a few times here. Your Momma may always tell you you are beautiful, but the reality happens pretty much the first time you walk out the door. Tossing off a pitting by being pithy and trite may be humorous, but I hope you listen to what some folks are saying. There is probably a bit more truth in it that what you quite feel comfortable with. The disadvantage of getting older isn’t the sagging, it’s being reminded of what an idiot you used to be.

Sure. Being smart is right up there on the list of problems: getting a divorce, death of a loved one, can’t afford to fix car that has broken down, being smart. Being smart is like being too attractive, having too much money, or having to fight off Victoria’s Secret models that just want to have sex with you (personal experience there). Even if it is a problem, and it rarely is, you don’t get to complain about it.
