You just know that today is going to end up being a superspreader event, and I can’t be the only person who thinks that if anything good comes from today, it will mean that some of those people will be too sick to cause their own brand of trouble on the 20th.
Just got out of bed this morning here in UK to see reports of these events which I won;t comment on directly in this forum.
However, two things seem to stand out, the recent infections and serious incapacitation of State and Congress Republican representatives appears to demonstrate just how much of the covid deniers seem to occupy the Republican outlook far more than that of the Democrats.
The protesters themselves are only an extreme reflection of that attitude, lack of Republican condemnation is very much an enabler of their outlook, and the result is this event which in turn will be a superspreader event, I cannot imagine that non-of the protesters were responsible enough to follow social distancing and quarantine rules if they had been in contact with Covid carriers or had even tested positive or actually had it themselves.
This lot are all going to drive home, or perhaps fly in crowded conditions - I am not yet up to date but I would assume there have also been more local similar protests at state capitols which will also have the potential for superspreading, all this in a day when a further 4000 US deaths were recorded along with 260 further infections.
We will see the effects in around 7-10 days
That good is outweighed by all the innocent people they will spread it to.
