Heck, you could be twice as good and Republicans are still willing to say you run a child-sex ring out of a nonexistent basement.
Or an existent pizzeria to which you have no actual connection whatsoever.
I’m far from a supporter of Clinton but I agree with this 100%. It wasn’t Hillary that was trying to initiate recounts or making desperate attempts to persuade Electors to become unfaithful. She was gracious in defeat and to paraphrase Shakespeare nothing in her political life became her like the leaving it.
I think the wrap is full of stool softeners.
Here’s the math.
Hillary won the national vote by < 3 million votes.
Hillary won California by > 4 million votes.
Doing a little math, CA is the only reason Hillary came out with more votes.
No,* every vote* that Hillary got counted toward that total. Even from here in Texas–where all the cities but Fort Worth went for her.
She won’t become President because of the Electoral College. But millions more of us, all over the country, preferred her.
Double points if it really applies to Trump.
Both had classified material in their possession. Both denied it. Neither seemed to think it was a big deal
From there, one was an Enlisted military member with no money and went to jail and one was a multi-millionaire with hundreds of thousands of defenders who wanted to become President.
This whole email server thing is hilarious because if Trump had to go through the actual process to get a clearance he wouldn’t even get secret. He’s compromised, in debt to foreign powers.
So yeah well done, you got stopped clinton, and instead you got a Putin puppet.
This episode reminds me that, despite accusations of arrogance and elitism, it’s the Democrats who appoint Republicans to key positions, in this case shooting themselves in the foot. Since the directors of the FBI serve ten-year terms, I thought perhaps Comey had been appointed by GWB, but I see it isn’t so. Barack Obama appointed him in 2013.
If Hillary hadn’t behaved irresponsibly by using an insecure email server then there would have been no statements from Comey in the first place. She brought this on herself.
It’s important to understand the context of some of Obama’s appointments though. A lot of Bush era officials made names for themselves by doing the right thing and leaving politics out of their decisionmaking. Some of those figures ended up getting jobs in the Obama administration, where they continued to do the right thing.
The idea that state dept servers are less likely to be compromised than Clinton’s needs to be examined and proved. Even if they were more secure, the miniscule amount of delta between ‘perfect’ handling of classified material and ‘not quite perfect’ does not constitute, in my mind, any sort of scandal or malfeasance. Comey agreed, but found a way to express his personal preference in the election by feeding the Trump dogs and casting enough doubt among potential Clinton voters that the election was lost.
Trump is an unqualified con man whom I will never give the respect of calling “Mr. President”. There are many, many better descriptions of him, ranging from Traitor, all the way down to rapist.
Well, this, and we need a federal law allowing us to firmly slap anyone who says (in any venue) “The youth vote will turn the tide this time!”
The use of the term Mr President is a sign of respect for the office not the man.
Because Republicans and other right-wingers certainly did give the office the FULL measure of respect it deserves while Obama occupied it.
Are you arguing that it’s good to be just like them?
Me, I think I’m better than they are. YMMV.
Obviously he’s arguing that they need to be called out on their hypocritical bullshit. Too many people take it for statements of principle.
That, plus I’m fully prepared to go to metaphorical war with the dead-ender Reich-wingers in Congress and online.
If the man doesn’t respect the office it’s new territory.
A man like Trump, I would go with “Your Gross”.
