I haven’t googled it yet, but if you have done it or know about it or know how it’s working you have to tell me, because it’s WORKING EVERY TIME!!!
I"M FREAKING OUT!!!

I"M FREAKING OUT!!!
I couldn’t find any specifics, but it seems to be a math trick. Maybe if you post some details we can figure it out.
THINK OF a 2 digit number from 1-100
add the two digits together IN YOUR HEAD
subtract the result from the starting number IN YOUR HEAD.
That’s your heroes number. Watch the screen, which flips through 3-4 sets of pictures of all the heroes with numbers associated with their faces, like a giant game of concentration. Take note of which hero is associated with your number. (and the heros numbers change every time you do it, by the way) Watch…and then Poof! “your hero is…” and it got it right SIX TIMES IN A ROW!!!
HOW???
You don’t do anything at all to interact with the screen except hit the enter button to continue. That’s all. HOW THE HELL DOES IT DO IT??? The only time I thought it got it wrong I realized I had gotten it wrong by messing up my subtraction.
HOW??? I NEED TO KNOW!!!
I figured it out.
I tested the system by simply thinking of a random number, without going through the hooha, and it didn’t get it.
Since the heroes change with each round, the answer must be that doing the little number dance yields very specific answers, and every go round, the answers will be X or Y or Z, so the same hero is in all of the spaes for XYZ.
And I am very proud of myself for sussing that out.
There are lots of little games floating around that use the same trick. Basically, when you add the digits together and subtract that from the number, you always get a multiple of 9.
A little math. A two digit number can be represented as 10a + b, where a and b can be any of the digits 0-9. Then subtract (a + b) gets
10a + b - (a + b) = 9a
So you always get a multiple of 9.
Goddam! I worked it out!
Over an hour too late, but I worked it out!
10-19 will always yield 9
20-29 will always yield 18
yep, got it at that point - then you pick out the Hero who has your number - and they’ll all have numbers that correspond to the multiples.
Bingo! And in mere minutes! With only a white board and marker!
Then I read Dr Love’s reply. So close to being clever for a minute … so damned close.
If it’s what I think it was, there are a few online sites that do the same thing. The math must yield a multiple of 9, and although the faces/symbols seem to be randomized and change with each game, within any one game they put the same image on 9, 18, 27, etc – it’s different from one game to the next, but it’s the same within a single game. Thus, the program always “knows” which one you’ve picked.
