Heromachine - make a superhero!

You can either run the program off the website or download it, unzip it into its own folder, and load heromachine.html into your browser. You need Flash for it to work.

Here’s the data for a character I created. Click ‘Load’ on Heromachine and then paste this in:

Maybe a little more explanation is in order. Heromachine is a tool to create a picture of a hero, using a whole bunch of predrawn art that you can mix and match, and add color. I suppose if you know how to code Flash you can add your own art, but you’re on your own there. Your hero is saved as a text file, which the program uses to load the proper image pieces and colors.

Here’s another one for you. Og Smash!

Yes, I love this program. I never save the images I make, but I’ll sit around and play with it for quite some time. I heard he’s supposed to come out with a new version soon.

Yes, Heromachine 2.0 is in beta testing. There’s a wider range of colors, categories and items. There’s also a mailing list you can sign up for, to follow the discussion on the new version and make suggestions.

I can’t wait for 2.0 to become available. I might actually be able to make more than a handful of my characters justice. I got precicely 2 looking like I wanted them, and only a couple others to even aproximate what they should look like. On the other hand, random experimentation gave me some neat characters.
