Herzog's latest documentary on Netflix: "Into The Inferno"

I’m a big fan of Herzog, whether it’s Aguirre, a documentary, or a guest spot on The Simpsons. His latest just popped up on Netflix and I really enjoyed it.

This time out Werner offers his observations about volcanoes, which have fascinated him since he filmed La Soufrière in 1977. He travels to various locales and talks with people about both the scientific and “magical” aspects of volcanoes. As usual it comes with the dry Herzogian narration and some great visuals…especially the footage of the doomed French volcanologists walking right next to huge active lava flows…wow. Definitely recommended if your a fan at all of Herzog’s work.

I’ve seen both this and Lo and Behold, the other 2016 documentary he released this year.

I’m also a huge Herzog fan and I found Inferno to be the much better documentary. It’s not one of his absolute bests, but it was really good.

Lo and Behold? It was nice, but I think he did not get the footage he hoped to get and ended up having to edit together the best possible documentary he could make.
