Did anyone get a chance to listen to Clinton on C-SPAN2 tonight? It’s going to be re-broadcast again on C-SPAN at 11:42 tonight. I’m sorry, but anybody that can speak as intelligently as this man on the subject of international issues deserves to get blown by who-ever, when-ever and where-ever he wants.
The question answer period sucked (too partisian) but his speech was absolutely fantastic.
Sure he talks well, but the man behaved like an ass, demeaned the presidency and lied to the American people.
------------------------------------------------------------OK, sure, go ahead and nit-pick.
Well, were it not for the source, I’d say you were missing the point. Clinton’s thoughts were dirty. His words were lies. His deeds were the resurgance of American society, his actions were peace and prosperity over most of the world.
Plus, GHWB, Reagan, Ford, Nixon, Kennedy, and plenty of other presidents “behaved like an ass, demeaned the presidency, and lied to the American people.” It’s not like Clinton was alone in that. Politicians are slimeballs. Some are more effective slimeballs than others.
Ok, if we’re going to talk politics and use terms like, “effective slimeballs”, then let me be the first to buy a pitcher of beer and a round of shots.
Perhaps we should not be so quick to harmful (and ignorance-driving) generalizations considering one of our own dopers (matt_mcl) is a politician. I’d really like to see anyone make an argument for his sliminess.
And I’d be willing to bet large US currency that he’s pretty sick and tired of needless politician bashing here and elsewhere.
Yes, how dare he try to keep his personal business personal! Didn’t anyone tell Bill that Ken Starr had every right to intrude into all aspects of his life? The putz!
(Someone remind me again how the Republicans are supposed to be opposed to government intrusion in our private lives…)
Hey, I was a Clinton fan once upon a time. I realize that he was a great Presdent in a lot of ways. But every time I hear, “Bill Clinton”, the phrase, “I did not have sex with that woman.” comes to mind (no pun intended), followed by, “Blowjobs aren’t sex” followed by, “It depends on what your definition of ‘is’ is.”
I wish he’d kept it in his pants. I wish the whole thing had never seen the light of day. I wish he’d picked a better looking woman. I have respect for many of the things he did as President, but no respect for the man.
Whistlepig, while I disagree with you (I’m a big Clinton fan, and I don’t think getting a blowjob makes you a bad person, nor does lying about it), I’d really like to commend you as being one of the most reasonable Clinton-dislikers I’ve ever seen. You aren’t just ranting out of control like so many others, and I find that very classy. Well done, sir (or ma’am, as the case may be).
