He's just too marvelous...(Johnny Mercer question)

I am a big fan of the songwriter Johnny Mercer, who penned such jazz standards as “Autumn Leaves,” “Skylark,” “That Old Black Magic,” “Come Rain or Come Shine,” and hundreds of others.

I am toying with the idea of forming a jazz trio that focuses on the Johnny Mercer songbook sometime in the next five years or so. My question is, can anyone recommend a Web site on the man, ideally with a complete list of the songs he wrote and lyrics?

As the man wrote well over 1100 songs I doubt anyone has them all listed on the web. Here’s 2 good sites http://johnnymercer.com and http://lemonadelounge.com

you MUST be doing it because you think it’s the right thing to do.”

While you idea is eminently commendable, I sincerely hope you’re not expecting to break into the Billboard top ten with your venture. But then again, who can predict what popular music will be like in five years? Maybe the “swing” revival will mutate into a Johnny Mercer revival. Good luck!
