Claire is a bitch. Gloria is a freak (in a good way; can you imagine her in heat?). I’ll take the freak any day, and hope I live to tell the tale.
True… But in that case, the poll is badly designed, and I’ll vote my preference on the best basis I can.
(How many times have we told people: design polls with all possibilities in mind! This one leaves out “I like them equally” as the most obvious missing possibility.)
Have you considered the possibility that I didn’t want to count people who like them equally? The poll was designed with the options I wanted and not the options someone else might have wanted to see.

Comparing them is irrelevant and it reduces the entire show to one completely non-central aspect: the woman as a sex object. That’s not okay. It essentially shows that you care more about the woman being for your personal pleasure than you care about her acting, regardless of how accomplished.
Also, Gloria. She’s really curvy, and has a bit of a wicked grin.
Definitely Claire. She has her faults, but I could deal with her much better than high-volume whining from Gloria.
Besides, she looks like Julie Bowen.
I think more people would go for Gloria if they didn’t have her wear an entire makeup counter on her face. I have seen many pictures of Sofia with about 1/3 the makeup, and she looked a hell of a lot better without.

Holy Crap, I’m actually surprised the poll is this close. I thought I would be in the vast minority by picking Claire; but I see several of you agree with me.
For one, I think Julie Bowen is insanely hot; but her character is sexy as hell. I’ve tried to figure out what its, and the only thing I come up with is that she’s kind of bitchy.

For me, it’s a tough call. They’re both very attractive in their own ways, it’s hard to choose. If I had to make a choice I lean slightly towards Gloria.

No, because that’s not how polls work. If you aren’t interested in a certain choice, you have to make it an option, so that those who would otherwise choose that option won’t pollute the choices you do care about. The point of only giving two choices is to force people to have to pick one or the other.
Once people have decided to take a poll, they almost never change their mind due to lack of information.
Plus, you’re wrong. I can easily determine which character I like more, just from viewing a few online clips. In fact, that’s exactly what I plan to do. And, if I can’t decide, then I will just go with who looks prettier, because that’s what you do when you have two criteria and there’s a tie in one criteria.
If you didn’t want people like me who have never seen the show to vote, that also should have been an option. Asking nicely (especially in the OP) instead of griping might have worked, too.
Anyways, I was all prepared to say Claire, as the actress is prettier in most cases, but not on the show. Character-wise, she’s not so bad, but they seem to want to make her look frumpy on the show. And since they were pretty close to begin with, that tips the scales to Gloria.
Especially since Gloria doesn’t seem to do the gaudy makeup that Vergara sometimes does. That was the biggest turnoff in all the photos I found.

I can’t wrap my head around the way some of you folks think. Let’s say there was a poll about a show I don’t watch, e.g Homeland, and the OP asked “Homeland’s Carrie or Jessica: From an attraction point of view (looks & character) which do you prefer?”
Since I don’t watch the show, and I don’t know how these two characters are like, you know what I would do? Not vote. You know what I wouldn’t do? Ask “Ah… Which one is Carrie”, or demand that the poll have an option for people who have never seen the show, or demand that the poll have an option for people who want to rate them based on looks only, or demand that the poll have an option for people who can’t decide between the two, or finding online clips of the two women so I can see which character I like more. I just wouldn’t vote in that poll.
But that’s just me. You guys can knock yourselves out and vote however you want, about two characters in a show you don’t watch.

I wouldn’t mind one long afternoon session with Gloria, but Clare has a natural beauty (OK, surgically enhanced) and sexiness that would last long after Gloria hits the wall.
Gloria’s beauty takes lots of work- the makeup, the hair, the form-fitting clothes and heels and what-not- it all screams “I put a lot of effort into looking vampy”. Clare can look sexy without effort. That’s beauty.
I don’t know the characters’ names, but whichever one is played by Julie Bowen.
I don’t understand the appeal of the one played by Sophia Vergara, whose surname I probably just misspelled. The character is always too made-up for my taste, and her face doesn’t appeal to me. Also – and I know this will expose me as less of a man in some eyes – her boobs are too big.
Sofia all the way. Julie was cute back in Happy Gilmore times, but hasn’t aged well, IMHO.
She’s still trim and cute, but a bit too severe for me.
Curvy, buxom brunettes hold a special place in my heart, even though they may not meet original factory specs…
Maybe it’s just the pictures that show up in a Google search (never seen the show) but Claire doesn’t do it for me at all. I wouldn’t give her a second look. Gloria, on the other hand…
No newsflash, I guess, but everyone has their own tastes in what they’re looking for. I could watch Claire all day long, but tire of Gloria within a minute or two.
