Okay, so I learned frames (with thanks to Opal and the FFF gang for troubleshooting assistance), played with Photodeluxe an itty bitty bit, dumped my old memory-sucking photo album, and created an entirely new one. Wanna see? Huh huh huh?
In all seriousness, I am curious to your impression of my main page (http://members.aol.com/lrconaway --the same from my sig line)–what works? What might make it better? …etc.
And the photo album (http://www.picturetrail.com/laurarae ) just has a bunch of photos of me, my family, Bri, friends, horse racing, and even an album of weird (and funny) stuff I’ve seen around locally.
Enjoy and stuff.
Oh, and feel free to provide links to your sites as well, and we’ll all cheer you for your taste and design.
frames used to be evil. done correctly, they can really make a site nice. (done incorrectly, they can trap you and drive you insane until you want to wrack the webmaster upside the head repeatedly.)
laura, you have one or two problems with yours:
if you change the target on all of your in site links (ie, home, photo album, etc.) from target="_top" to target=“main” you will have your pages open up in the other frame, which is sort of the point of frames.
if you change the offsite links (the sd, the dailing racing forum, etc.) to target=_blank they will open in a new window. this is useful because it means people can explore your links without leaving your site.
other than that, it’s great!!! and i signed your guestbook.
_blank is what I was actually aiming for–a new page opening up. I also wanna figure out how to put a list of links on the far left of a page, without it interfering with the main central content (does that make sense?)–tables, maybe?
Really, I did the frame because I wanted to learn how to do frames. Just 'cause.
And Demo, no, you didn’t have enough animated gifs and neon-colored flashing banners to hurt my eyes. The picture is great, and the site is uncluttered and to the point. I like! Now, on to Cessandra’s stuff…
i’m trying to get hosted so i can leave envy (evil server that it is), but that’s hard to accomplish when no one can see my site. (sites are usually reviewed before they accept you as a hostee.)
um, not sure i follow you about the links not interfereing with the main content bit.
Ruffian, I for one am still waiting for pictures of you from the past five years that I haven’t seen yet. I perused your photo album . . . damn you for being too old for me, engaged, not in my tristate area, etc. And friedo, you’re a bit late in saying that. I proclaimed Ruffian’s babedom and such a while back.
HEY! The picture of me with Kona Gold was taken two days ago…the picture of me with Cornelius four days ago…and pictures of me at Disneyland, Christmas, with my two aunts, and with my grandmothers are new additions from the old page. So nyah–there are new pictures of me there! Poo poo head.
Oh yes. {clearing throat, smiling sweetly} Thank you for your compliments…yer pretty cute yerself, shirtless boy. And, you have way cool hair.
Thanks for the URL, Ruffian! Lots of fun pics, too. If I had my druthers, I prefer no frames (I don’t use frames at any of my pages), but it’s always fun to experiment.
Ruffian, if you’re willing to entertain me, can you PLEASE change the name of that photo of you and your sweetie, from “Thundermountain” to “Big Thunder Railroad”? Thank you very much!
– Your Web page visitor and Disneyland annual passholder, the two-weeks-wedded Mrs. Bagfusciatrist.
That whole “ripple” effect behind you in your pic has caused a severe acid flashback. The colors Ruff, the blinking colors !
Have you ever really looked at your hand ? I mean really ?
I’ve already seen your old webpage, and met you in real life, so I already knew you were a babe.
Your webpages look great, but why did you remove your high school graduation picture? I really liked that one.
Still can’t get ya to put up the Oral Sex Techniques thread, huh?
I see you changed the “bonefied” thing…
After you’d mentioned your sister Anne at the LA doperfest, I confess I was curious about her. Wowsers!

Finally, the misspelled “Paking” reminded me of a “Numero Uno” banner in Westwood. You’d think these things wouldn’t happen in a corporate chain environment, but this particular banner said “Numbero Uno”.
I pointed it out to a friend, who assured me that “The ‘b’ is silent.”
