The reason I put this in the pit is that I know I, personally, am unable to argue rationally with his particular brand of idiocy. I was only lurking in that particular thread when his posts [billy jack]just… made… me… snap[/billy jack].
I tried to be careful with my wording in the OP, because it is not all conservatives by any means, just those of BS’s stripe who piss me off. My dear sainted mother is a conservative, she campaigned for Goldwater while she was in high school- Barking Spider and his ilk are what drove her away in the mid-nineties.
To me, Barking Spider represents a cancer eating away at one particular ideology in this country, and while I am not personally a conservative I feel we are all weaker for it- witness the scare tactics Gore supporters used in the last presidential election.
I’ve never claimed to be a conservative. I crossed that Rubicron long ago.
But being that Monstro is the bigot for claiming that White males should be fingerprinted, when the facts are that BLACK males commit crimes in this country in far greater numbers than their numbers would seem to warrent:

I’m saying never mind statistics, punishing innocent people is always a bad idea- and yes, profiling is punishment.
I live in Oklahoma, and I remember that after the Murrah Federal Building was bombed a lot of people blamed “ay-rabs”- a man in Norman was beaten. When the bomber was cought absolutely no one suggested profiling white men, white guys were not dragged from their homes and beaten.

Let me explain it, I’ll try to use small words so you don’t ge confused: If you are innocent of a crime, it doesn’t matter what percentage of people who share some meaningless signifier with you are guilty, you’re still innocent.
More to the point, as I pointed out in my last post it always seems to go one way when profiling is suggested- it’s pretty damn easy to point at some others to blame and punish- anyone with half a fucking clue acknowledges that crime, terrorism, welfare (I still can’t believe you brought that shit up) are human problems.
Oh, well. At least you admit you aren’t a conservative, which given the options puts you in a pretty bad light.

In terms of raw numbers, white people obviously commit more crimes, because there are more of them.
In terms of percentage of the population, black people commit more crime, for whatever reasons, which I do not care to go into.
In terms of who should be fingerprinted or profiled for what, neither number is meaningful. Hell, with the usual logic displayed on this topic, the strongest argument could be made for profiling poor people of all colors, since they commit most of the violent crime.

pld, and equal argument could be made for fingerprinting all young males - irrespective of race - as criminology statistics show that they are significantly more likely than any other demographic group to be the perpetrators of most classes of crime (and especially property crime and crimes of violence).
