Hey Chicagoans! What's your favorite. . .

And with that nonsensical response, I, notcynical , hereby take my leave of you all, and merely state that I hope all Chicagoans will find this very great sandwich shop somewhere between E. Ontario and Wrigley field.

Those beefs are SO frickin’ tiny, and they cost $6. It’s unconscionable, I tell you. I don’t get it at all. I wolf my combo with a perplexed look on my face. While I’m waiting in line a half hour for a Mario’s lemonade.

So what’re the NWBurbdopers up to this week? Say Thursday? Anyone for lunch? I’m thinkin’ Stadium?

Oh - porcupine that’s where I live too!! You know, we probably know each other but just don’t know it. As if THAT made sense!

Thursday could be fun. I’ll need an address for the Stadium. I can get on Algonquin easily enough.

Can’t do it myself, Missy – I live in the burbs but work downtown. However, a weekend NWBurbChiDope would work just fine for me!

I can get together for lunch Thursday. I’m starting a new job in the city in a couple/three weeks, so anytime after that, weekends only.

Does somebody want to start an MPSIMS thread to see if we can snag more people?

Local Band: Switchback. Irish rockabilly. You really have to hear them to believe them.

Fancy Restaurant: Yeah… when I can afford to go to a fancy restaurant, I’ll be sure and let you know… :stuck_out_tongue:

Non-Fancy Restaurant: Just one? no way. I like the Kopi Cafe in Andersonville, Pick Me Up, Cesar’s, and Leona’s in Boystown. There are others too, but can’t remember off the top of my head. Thai Lagoon? (The place kitty-corner from the Thirteenth Floor Gallery…)

Fast Food: Uh. I don’t really do fast food. Would Zoom Kitchen count? It’s the only thing I can think of. They have fantastic squash soup.

Touristy thing to do with out-of-towners: Walk-about Boystown/Lakeview and check out shops like the Alley, 99th Floor… then museums and galleries, specifically the photography gallery at the Jane Addams Center on Broadway/Belmont (good stuff, little known), and the Museum of Contemporary Art. (Yeah, I’m a culture freak. )

Beach/Park: Hartigan Park & Beach, immediately north of Loyola’s Lakeview campus. Nice and quiet, very few to no annoying kids and tourists.

Sports Team: I don’t do sports. How about a theatre troupe? I vote for Babes with Blades and the Fight Shop.

Sox or Cubs: Don’t honestly care, but if you’re gonna make me go to a game, I’ll take the Cubs just because it’s a shorter trip to the field.

Jazz/Blues club: The Green Mill. Especially during the Poetry Slam.

Sports or other bar: The Fifth Province in the Irish American Heritage Center. Cozy, nearby, and it’s where I first heard Switchback play. (They’re playing again this Friday, actually…)

Street Fair: I have no real opinion on street fairs. I will go if the weather’s nice and I’m in a mood to deal with crowds, but don’t have real preferences. Normally I’d say the Pride Festival in Boystown, but I found it disappointing last year, and didn’t go this year (both of my companions for the day got sick, didn’t feel like doing large crowds alone). Just didn’t compare to the NYC Pride fest. Or even DC. sigh…

And I’m gonna add my own:
Nightclub: Neo. Small, friendly, everybody knows everybody. nice dark atmosphere. Yuppies need not apply. (heheh.)

THEY’RE UP TO SIX BUCKS!!! My Lord! What is this world coming to? Ok, it has been quite a while since I’ve been there, but when I used to go there fairly regularly (like 7 years ago) beefs were about $3-4 and Mario’s was busy, but never so crowded you had to wait more than 5 minutes in line. Hmmm…things have changed I see.

There’s a new thread in MPSIMS seeking other participants.

Missy and porcupine, and anyone else interested, please check in.

Oh carp.

I try to use the fancy new moron-proof gizmo in the post reply screen, and still manage to muck it up. That link takes you to the top of this thread.

This is the correct link to MPSIMS
