HEY Demos and Repubs Who's Getting Disappointed?

This thread is to find out who is getting more disappointed in their political party in this election fiasco. I have heard that some democrats are really getting put out by the crap that is going in Florida especially the military count. So I was wondering if any demos here are feeling the same?

And the same goes for the Repubs.

I had an idea just for fun. How about give Bush 2 years and Algore two. What do you think? Don’t laugh after all this mess why shouldn’t it be doable? They are changing the law everyday out there in the sunshine state(maybe they are on sunshine…orange sunshine that is  )

I’ve got a thread set up and waiting for you to show me just how. Your participation is welcome, if you’ve actually got a basis for your comment - it’s been damned quiet over there!

There are three things that dissapoint me about this election:

  1. No one seems willing to sit back, wait, and see; everyone wants to get involved and stir the pot, or argue endlessly about issues without full information.

  2. Neither candidate for President has acted the least bit ‘presidential’ in this mess; you’d like to think a President can reign in his people from sounding like fools and looking like idiots.

  3. Everyone seems to think that the ‘other side’ is out to steal the election. It would be nice if the politicians would stop frothing at the mouth long enough to admit that each side has some reasonable arguments, and that we still have no idea who actually received more votes.

DS:

I’m with you. I’m bummed no matter what happens… right after the election, when pundits were making dire predictions about how this was going to descend into madness, I thought they were being hysterical, it couldn’t possibly get that bad.

But it could and it has…sigh. :frowning: It’s hard for me to separate myself completely from what I want and be able to be harsh with the Dems, but I haven’t been puffed up with pride at everything that has happened, that’s for certain.

When I take it back to the beginning, two weeks ago today, I do lay this mess at the feet of Bush, though. His desperate scramble to stop a count provided for by law was the catalyst to the craziness - which the Dems certainly plunged in to join, however.

I’m just so sad about it all. No outcome is a happy one at this point.

Although if Bush ends up prez, I’m just gonna have to avoid watching the news for the next 4 years…even with 2 weeks to adjust to the idea, I still simply cannot stand the notion of him “leading” this country.

Still so rabidly partisan Stoid? “its bushes fault and he will be a awful leader even though Gore probably would have done the same thing in Bushes place”

How exactly did Bushes scramble to stop the counting do anything at all?

Trust me, I make as many spelling mistakes as ANYONE on this board. But I have to beg you to stop spelling Bush’s as Bushes.

Please.
Everytime I read that, I imagine Jesse Jackson saying…

“Stay Out Da Bushes”

Republican checking in here. Disappointed Republican at that. I certainly agree with DSYoung that neither of these Bozos has acted every presidential. I believe that we’re looking at a “six of one, half dozen of the other” situation here. Whomever eventually ends up at 1600 Pennsylvania probably won’t be a memorable president. That being said, I find this entire episode to be exciting. We’re living history here, folks, and no matter how it turns out we’ll all remember the 2000 election for the remainder of our lives. What a wonderous time to be alive!

I’ll second that, el-mono… while I feel more than a bit battered by the experience, I’m certainly thrilled I’ve been here to see it.

I’m with all of you. I tend to lean Democratic, and I voted for Al Gore, in large part because I’ve always had a negative view of GWB. As such, I’m not really disappointed by Bush, because, when the chips are down, I always expected him to act petty and undignified. “I’m a uniter, not a divider”? “Time to restore honor and dignity to the White House”? Ha! Pitch those campaign slogans in the trash.

I am disappointed with Gore, though, because he seems to be acting just as badly as Bush. I keep telling myself that he’s not quite as bad (and I probably believe it), but I’m starting to think that preferring Gore over Bush is akin to arguing that it’s better to have cow shit on your foot than dog shit.

Still and all, the whole process is pretty thrilling. And part of me thinks that, since the candidates have damaged themselves so much already, it might be fun to see this process dragged out even farther: how low will they go?

Well put. Particularly point #1. I can help but think (perhaps wrongly) that this wouldn’t be as bad if the press weren’t in such a hurry to declare a winner. I really wish they would stop the exit polling and projecting winners. I would also like to see people on both sides admit that the other side believes they are doing the right and legal thing.
