Well, the whole purpose of religious belief, is the importance of humans in the great scheme of things, yet nothing in that text relates the sheer insignificance of the human race in all that went on before their arrival. Unless the implication is, all that time and effort went into preparing everything just for us?
That’s exactly what the text implies.
Humans (in Genesis) are thought to be made in God’s image - they are created to have dominion over all of God’s previous creation.
So, does that mean any non-human intelligence would be exempt from god’s grace? Would the discovery of an alien, non-human intelligence that seemed to be at least as smart as us, negate the relevance of biblical texts at all?
Maybe they will have their own Biblical texts.
I don’t think an early Iron Age creation myth is really set up to take aliens into account.
One position I’ve heard ( by being taught it as a child, among other places ), is that since humans are made in God’s image, aliens must be either creations of Satan, or outright demons. I was told that UFOs are real, and piloted by demons.
