Hey...didn't they LOSE the Super Bowl?

In 1993, Nebraska’s football team was unbeaten heading into the Orange Bowl. They ended up losing the game to heavily-favored Florida State 18-16.

Championship t-shirts were made before the game by a fan store. I presume they would’ve been destroyed and written off.

However, due to the controversial outcome of the game (to say the refs were not on their toes is a huge understatement), the “1993 champs” shirts ended up being sold as a form of protest. Sounds childish, but the strategy worked and they sold out of the shirts.

Of course, after 1994, 95, and 97, Husker fans were sick and tired of championship merchandise
