"Hey, hun"

If not calling him by his name, I use: honey, lover, lovey, guapo or chico. Oh, and sometimes - mi amor.

Rocco is beautiful. I have a dear friend named Lokiko - Loki for short

What a gorgeous bird! Does he get enough socialization with the dogs and you? Good friends of mine had an African Grey who had lots of feather plucking issues. Poor thing looked so bad. Turns out parrots are extremely sociable and will pine, if not for the fjords, for other parrots. My friends ended up letting him be adopted by the place he’d stay when they went on vacation, because he was always so healthy looking when he’d return from his vacation with all the other birds.

I started to call him Darlin’ ironically and it sort of stuck…

Pretty exclusively “Sweetie?” which I’m sure I would have found very annoying to my ear 10 years ago. Lol.

That pic is awesome.

Wait, you’re feeding EGGS to a BIRD??? I think I’m gonna barf…

Hopefully, they’re not parrot eggs! Otherwise, lots of birds eat other bird’s eggs.

Yeah, and some birds eat other full grown birds. It ain’t cannibalism.

I think so. He comes to work with me and the dogs every day. He has a cage and playground there. At home he has set-ups in the sunroom (where my gf has a flight-cage with six budgies), living room, kitchen, porch, and my man cave. He is rarely alone. (Bird tip: used cages can be purchased for a pittance on Craigslist. The five we have cost less combined then one brand new cage)

IME the problem with having paired parrots is that unless they are a breeding pair, the bonding decreases their pet quality and potentially decreases their quality of life (egg binding, etc).

He loves, loves, loves chicken wings, eats the bone and all. He might like lasagna a bit more, especially if it is a meaty lasagna. You get strange looks though when ordering a half dozen wings and want them plain. “Oh, you mean seasoned?” “No, plain.”:dubious:

Lokiko. I’ve never heard that, but Loki responds to it. Then again, she responds to pretty much anything.

Another “Sweetie” here. “Hey” or “oh,” but always followed by “Sweetie.”

Funny thing was, I sort of startled at the chicken wings part, but the eggs flew right over my head. Um, so to speak.

Such a pretty bird! My best friend growing up had a green parrot who used to scream her name in her mother’s voice. So annoying when we’d be playing at my house (across the street) and we’d hear, “PAM?! PAAAAAAAM?!” and she’d have to go see if it was her mother calling her or the parrot. :smack:

So, Loki and Rocco came up with another game. I give Rocco a tsp of peanut butter every day or two. Rocco ends up with some on his beak, so he wipes it off. Loki smelled peanut butter and started licking it up as Rocco wiped it off, eventually licking some right off his beak. They crack me up.

Great photo!

My dogs’ favorite thing is to be given an almost empty jar of peanut butter. They’ll spend an hour or two trying to get as much of what’s left as possible.
