If you asked me this a few years ago I’d say no, as would my SO. But apparently we both say this, as demonstrated by Rocco, our African Grey Parrot. He mostly mimics my speech/phrases, but when we are ignoring him he will say, “hey, hun”, in one of our voices, confusing us repeatedly.
It’s creepy-strange hearing what you say and how you say it. I found out from Rocco that I say our three dogs names in three different tones of voice.
“Oooohhhh Mary” if its just one of those normal things that crop up in daily life. If its more for something silly it’s more like “Oh dearest, oh sweety, oh honey” all said together.
Thanks for the idea! I’ve filmed him flying using the slo-mo on my phone and it was amazing. (He’s fully flighted and kinda trained to only land where we allow him to hangout).
What a great photo! Beautiful parrot. Already love your dogs. Only one egg for all the critters?
I never knew how often I started sentences with “well, actually…” until my first kiddo started doing so as a toddler in perfect imitation. He didn’t turn out quite as argumentative as I am, though, thank heavens.
(I usually call out my husband’s name to get his attention. At least, that’s what I’m aware of. God knows what I say that I’m not aware of.)
Our oldest dog, Ella, had a bout of pancreatitis last year. She was pretty ill. During her recuperation I fed her an egg (scrambled) each morning. I would give the bird a tiny piece and he loved it.
Although Ella is 100% now, the morning egg routine continued. I scramble one egg and everyone gets some. Then we head for work, where the dogs get their morning meal and Rocco gets whatever I have for him. Chicken wings are his current favorite snack. This time of year he is loving Halo clementines.
‘Hey Av!’ (short for his stage name, which was how I was originally introduced to him), ‘Hey Bear!’ or ‘Hey Sweet Elf!’ I may call him Hun, but I’m not aware of it, really.
