Hey, I've been there! (Movie Locations)

In Terminator 2, the building used for Cyberdine Systems, that Our Heroes blew up, is visible from I880 in Fremont, CA. I used to drive by it twice a day. Never actually went to it, though.

As a bicycle courier in San Francisco long ago I delivered to locations used in many shoots including the NASH BRIDGES boat. Hint: QUICKSILVER was not reality-based.

The Stephen King flick DESPERATION was filmed in my old remote desert mining town of Bisbee AZ. One district was tarted-up to look worse. A major shoot occurred 500 feet from my front door, with a leopard leaping through a store window. The actors all looked bored with reshoots and waiting around.

King’s second film, 'SALEM’S LOT, was partially shot around the block from me when I lived in Mendocino CA. And much of THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING was filmed around where I lived just north of there in Ft Bragg CA.

Parts of Santa Fe NM were blocked-off for film shoots last time we were there but we never did learn what.

Last week I visited a new one in addition to the ones I previously mentioned. I visited New York over the holidays, and flew into Terminal 5 at JFK. T5 is adjacent to the historic TWA terminal, where some scenes from Catch Me If You Can were shot. In particular you might recognize the distinctive red tunnels that used to lead to the gates. The terminal was recently renovated and repuropsed as a hotel and now once again open to the public, so I popped over to check it out before heading to the city. It is totally a time capsule of groovy early 1960s modernist design.
