Hey, Obama, get the fuck over yourself.

[QUOTE=magellan01]
I get your point, but it’s not a good analogy. The boss doesn’t swear an oath to protect someone’s right to free speech. You’re missing the humor/irony/hypocrisy in it. It’s comedy gold I tell ya.
[/QUOTE]

And not inviting someone onto a plane does nothing to abridge their freedom of speech.

[QUOTE=magellan01]
They should be “careful”?!? Because, shiver me timbers, you find it “unacceptable”?!? Oh, really? And if they’re not careful, then what? :dubious: What are you going to do, tough guy? You do realize that we have something called freedom of speech, right?
[/QUOTE]

Mercy me, what a dipshit you are. You may want to look up “free speech” and read for us the part where that means you get to say whatever shitty things you want without facing any consequences. It seems more and more common that conservative crybabies are using this cheap tactic of whining “waaah! he broke my free speech!” whenever it looks like they may be held responsible for their trash-talking. Get it straight… this is a political contest. The candidates can and do throw mud at each other. All Obama is saying is if you throw mud at his wife, he will not hesitate to return the pleasantries.

[QUOTE=magellan01]
can you please explain the thinking behind why what I did specifically would be problematic?
[/QUOTE]
I see it as one of those rules where there’s enough gray area to cause problems. If you allow “obvious” changes to quotes, then the staff has to argue with people over what’s obvious and what isn’t, and defend their past rulings, and the rulings of other mods.

It’s easy enough to alter a quote for effect, without actually having the poster’s name attached, that a strict rule doesn’t inhibit anyone’s ability to post.

How does not inviting someone aboard Air Force One infringe on that person’s right to free speech?

[QUOTE=yojimbo]
How about 75,000?

http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/05/18/record_obama_crowd_the_size_of.html
To quote Travis Bickle. Some day a rain will come.

The rain is coming alright and hopefully it will wash these hateful neo-con fucks out of the political scene for good.
[/QUOTE]
Wow. I have to agree. I’ve bashed the left for a long time now, giving the right more slack because so many were already bashing them.

But they’ve crossed too many lines. They’ve bloated our government, trampled on our liberties, destroyed our reputation in the world, crippled our military, and made freedom into a dirty word. They get no more slack. Not from me, anyway.

[QUOTE=Squink]
I wonder if they’ll call her a cunt?
[/QUOTE]

Refresh my memory-when was that and who did it involve?

[QUOTE=magellan01]
Even if I say, “Hey, look, I’m going to change some of what you said for effect and put in in bold so you can see what I’ve changed.” Even that’s not allowed. What’s the rationale. I’ll abide be the rule in the future, but can you please explain the thinking behind why what I did specifically would be problematic?
[/QUOTE]

You falsely attributed to Liberal words that he did not use. That’s never acceptable. The fact that you freely admitted to doing so outside the quote box doesn’t change that. All you had to do was remove the “=Liberal” from your quote tag and it would have been cool.

Same way burning already purchased Dixie Chicks cds does, I guess.

It’s a continuum.

[QUOTE=magellan01]
Super: This message brought to you by the Barack Obama campaign and Pedigree dog food.
[/QUOTE]
It was a Republican Congressman, Tom Davis, who said that if the Republican brand were dog food, they’d take it off the shelf. Republicans are going to lose this fall, and they’re going to lose big. People have had enough of hypocrites running roughshod over rules and tradition and even law just to make a point or a dollar. It’s over.

Wow! If this is the best wingnuts can throw at Obama it’s going to be a much smoother ride than anticipated.

Maybe he ought to take-up golf – that’s sure to cause some conniptions amongst the more die-hard neocons.

“While Obama plays golf our soldiers are being killed and maimed in Iraq. For shame!”

This is the origin. Though I am not a fan of McCain, I don’t know how much credence to give this story. It appears in a book with an axe to grind, and the source is three reporters telling it under conditions of anonymity.

ROTFL. I’ll bet you that come November, the numbers will demonstrate that 90% of conservative voters still haven’t had enough of it yet.

Will conservatives be fielding a candidate?

Let’s recap, okay dipshit? The shitty thing was said by: Michelle Obama. The other side just wants to hang that around her neck—using her own words. And that’s so—waaaah—unfair? Give me a fucking break. Yeah, the candidates will throw mud, and let Obama throw it. But what do YOU think he had in mind with his tough guy threat?

Not a fan of subtlety, eh? Alright then. Most of the voters who voted for “hypocrites running roughshod over rules and tradition and even law just to make a point or a dollar” in the last election have in fact not had enough of it, and are going to vote for it again. And yes, these dimwits generally call themselves conservatives. If you think any significant fraction of the people who elected Bush are True Fiscal Conservatives like yourselves who will vote Democrat or 3rd-party as a protest vote, I think you’re sadly deluded. These people understand power if nothing else and will not be in a hurry to be shorn of it.

Yeah, makes sense, I guess. Again, my apologies to Liberal and the mods.

I dunno about conservatives, but Republicans are crossing over to Obama in droves.

Oh NOES! They’re repressing her free speech!

Occam’s Razor suggests nothing more than “You take cheap shots at me, I’ll send some back your way”. Anything else is just a figment of your tiny little imagination.

Someone using the power of the presidency, and any perks that might normally flow from it to a group of people, to muzzle political speech is comical and ironic, if not reprehensible. Wouldn’t you agree? Mind you, this was Revenant’s take, not mine. I just offered that I would be tickled if it happened.
