Obnoxious?
I dunno. I thought she was fairly benign.
Now if somebody said Urkle or Raven I might think that character not race to be the issue.

In my opinion, it would be offensive if it didn’t reference a black kid, i.e., "dropping the kids off at the pool. But because it references a black kid, it is racist.
Well, call me crazy, but equating brown skin with poop really DOES say, “Hey! You’re inferior to me! I’m not like SHIT but you are!” Shit is inferior to humans. At least to every person I’ve asked.
This is insanity.
Naw, it’s “Taking the Browns to the Super Bowl”.
Okay, I like this one. Would anyone living in Cleveland be offended or insulted in any way if I use it? Your answer will not effect my usage of it, I’m just curious.
Ah, but Olivia IS Raven. So, see, it all comes full circle.
I couldn’t have put it any better if I tried.
sigh
This type of shit creates a Boy Who Cried Wolf environment. I guess, however, we’ll just have to agree to disagree.
Sadly, I’m sure lots of nuts would take total offence. Seems to be all the rage these days.
Nice for me, because being bi-racial, I get to freak out over just about anything.
Well…yeah. But that’s because Nigger is a really bad word and, as far as my reality is concerned, Rudy Huxtable isn’t.
You know, if you substituted “the big ‘N’ word” for anything it would be very racist and high on the hate scale.
Mom, I’m going down to Ol’ Wes’s General Store to pick up a pack of cigarettes.
Mom, I’m going down to Ol’ Wes’s General Store to pick up a pack of niggers.
You see? The second one’s not so nice to say. Let’s try another!
It’s Memorial Day Weekend, we should go to the cemetary and remember the fallen soldiers.
It’s nigger Day Weekend, we should go to the nigger place and remember the fallen niggers.
First one patriotic! Second one? Really really bad. Really.
So what have we learned? The N word probably isn’t good to use in any speech, colloquial or formal. Rudy Huxtable, however, is fair game. In fact, according to the IMDB, she was born in 1979 so she’s been fair game for 5 whole years!
Would that be the toroidal circle the poop travels as it’s flushed away?
Heh heh heh. He said “Number two”.

As the person who started this fracas by asking Airman Doors whether or not his repeating of the joke was appropriate, I can say that I accept his disclaimer of not intending any harm. I didn’t accuse him of being racist, nor would I, based only upon what I’ve read on this board.
I can also say that - intention of harm or not - repeating jokes of this nature perpetuates them. Since it is offensive to at least one person of color on this board, it is probably offensive to many more.
What is offensive to one may not be offensive to another. A sexually offensive joke, however, does not carry the same weight as a racially offensive joke. A moral person may soon forget the sexual innuendo; it’s doubtful that someone of color will forget the slur.
I just wanted to clear up my point. Please carry on with the shouting and gesturing.
I love to scatter subtle poo messages throughout my posts. Let’s just say it’s what I do.
I am sensitive to this subject because I feel there is a movement now that scoffs at any expression of anger when offense is taken. This backlash–most often expressed in ridicule and affected outrage–will ultimately make people more hesitant to speak up.
I think enough people in this thread have spoken on both sides for us to at least admit that it’s not “insane” to consider that there might be a racist implication to the joke quoted by the OP. Also, I would not insult you by calling you insane for disagreeing. Would that you would return the favor.
Actually this is kind of funny if you imagine Dave Chappell saying it.
I though Airman’s joke was more than a tad racist, but to claim that in anyway makes Airman racist is foolish. He was mearly insensitive at the time. Calling Racist at every possible moment mearly dissvalues the badness of the term. I guarantee everyone can be called racist for some reason or other, but if we all call each other racist the term loses all value. Then what do we get to call the KKK?
Sorry dude but extrapolating…

…is straight the fuck up crazy.
I could go into why people like this are dropping society off at the pool, but I feel lazy today.
Mindless lynchmob redneck motherfuckers?
Hmmmm, wait, maybe I got that wrong.
Are these people turning society into the pool, and then they’re dropping their Huxtables off in it?
Either the society is the “Huxtable” or the pool.
Eh, whatever.
Maybe when you’re feeling more energized, you’d be willing to explain. I’m keen to hear why you think someone who seems to be saying that its not cool to compare people to shit is more responsible for society’s decline than the shit caller him or herself.
This seems a little backwards to me, but then I’ve been accused of being a bit loony.
