Ishmael Butler resurfaced a few years back with Shabazz Palaces, on Sub-Pop of all labels: his voice has more of a clipped, raspy edge now, but it works well with his measured flow.
If we are mentioning artists other than Eminem, I’ll just mention who I just discovered and really like, Flatbush Zombies with Palm Trees as one of my faves. I also like Headstone, tho the songs couldn’t be more different.
I was just listening to their new album today. I dig it, but not as much as some seem to.
I have a problem though that mixtapes aren’t on spotify so I can’t easily listen to anything that is not released as a commercial album when I’m driving. Makes spending time with some newer artists kinda tricky.
