Helllo everyone. It was a very long day at the hospital. We arrived at seven a.m and Mr. Taters and I didn’t leave until after 3:00 p.m.
Surgery started at 9:00 and the surgeon finally came out to talk to us at 11:30. The surgery was only supposed to last until around 10:00, so we were a might bit concerned.
The surgeon said the surgery went well, and they are planning on releasing MIL tomorrow. He then told us she’d be in her hospital room in about an hour. As it turns out, MIL had some serious pain issues, so they had to keep her in recovery longer. She finally got to her room at about 2:00 pm. Once there, she promptly threw up. They gave her some meds to counteract the nausea and soon she was sleeping again, so we went home.
I’ll call tomorrow morning to find out when I should pick her up. I really think they should keep her for at least a couple of days, but it seems they can’t kick the patients out fast enough.
The surgeon asked us if anyone would be home with MIL, and we told him we were under the impression a nurse would be coming to drain her lines. He told us that her lines would have to be drained at least three times a day. Well, crap. Guess who’s on caretaker duty? Yup, good ol’ me. I’m hoping that she really won’t have to be drained all that often.
I’m glad to see some of the old timers checking in again. Congrats, scout, on your upcoming nuptials. I hope you can find a reasonably priced photographer. We had some friends take pictures at our wedding. They turned out very nicely.
Last night I made something for dinner that was a big hit with the hubby. The funny thing is, it’s so very simple to make. You just take cube steaks and dredge them in some seasoned flour and brown them in a frying pan with some butter. Next, you put them in a baking/casserole dish and top each cube steak with an onion slice. Next, sprinkle some Lipton’s Beefy Onion soup mix over that. Finally, pour some beef consomme over the top; enough to give you some gravy, and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Serve with some smashed taters and some vegetable side dish.
I’ve been informed I’ll be making that again.
Speaking of dinner, I guess I should figure out what we’re going to eat.
Ooh! I wanted to add that I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you Haze.
