Hiannick Kamba found alive...

…four years after being declared dead.

Okay, the government didn’t declare him dead (from what I gather from the story, it was just his wife and the insurance company that did that). But he’d been presumed dead after a car accident in the Congo in 2016.

According to the soccer player, his friends took his money, his cell phone, and his ID and essentially abandoned him.

He was discovered working for an energy company in Germany.

Weird story.

Yup, his story totally checks out. Nothing weird there.

Well, there’s definitely SOMETHING weird there. It’s just a question of what. You can’t just say “Well, it’s unlikely that his friends would have robbed and abandoned him, so he must have staged his death”, because you could just as well say “Well, it’s unlikely that he staged his death, so his friends must have robbed and abandoned him”.

That said, he wasn’t still in the Congo. He was in a country with a functional government, police force, modern record-keeping, and so on. Why didn’t he call anyone as soon as he was back in civilization?

I really want to see the resumé he presented to the energy company.

He was a footballer. That was probably enough.
