Hiccups

While searching the archives I came across a post dated in '96 (if anyof you would like to find it), that said that Ulcerative Colitis can be one of the causes of hiccups. Can anyone please tell me how the two can be related?;j

What are hiccups and why do we get them?

Why are the other conditions on the list, let alone colitis?

Point taken. however my hsband has Ulcerative Colitis so I have a special interest in the topic. It always sparks my interest to see it lised somewhere since not many people know about it. That’s all. also that he has had the condition for three years and the only time I’ve ever seen him hiccup was 2 days ago when he had been drinking. Just struck me as odd.

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to make a point. My mother had ulcerative colitis from 1969 until her death in 1997. She had bad problems towards the latter years with reflux, heartburn, and hiccups.

This site has something interesting:

Seems you’ve answered my question then. Thankyou for taking the time to do so. Next time he gets the hiccups I may well take him to the Dr. :stuck_out_tongue:

My experience nursing my mother told me that colitis is part and parcel, at times, of a range of other conditions, happening at the same time. Hiccups in themselves aren’t that much of an issue, they could be from any other cause rather than colitis. But if they are frequent, long-lasting and bring on acid attacks from the stomach – yes, see your medical professional.

All the best to you and your husband, WildChild.
