Hiccups

So I’m a little frustrated and figured it might help if I post this.

For about 14 hours, I had a constant stream of hiccups. Holding my breath didn’t help and neither did drinking water. Throwing up would give me about 10 minutes of relief from the hiccups but they would always start up again. They did just go away on there own a little while ago.

Leaps out

BOO!!!

ETA:Eating dry sugar is supposed to help.

trying to imagine a world wherein hiccups are so annoying that vomiting is called upon as a potential solution

One of my girlfriends swears by the “drink a glass of water upside down” method. As in, get a glass of water, flip your head over, and drink the whole thing from the opposite side of the glass from you. She’s one of those who gets hiccups after eating too much or drinking more than one glass of wine, and this is her “go-to” method.

Other people suck on limes with some efficacy. Particularly if they have a few dashes of Angostura bitters on them. (I work at a bar and this is one of the requests I get.)

Try inhaling very slowly and very, very deeply through your nose, then exhale slowly through your mouth. This stops my hiccups after 3 to 5 of these. Otherwise, see your doctor…
