High Colonics: Yay or nay?

A friend of mine is currently sining the praises of high colonics. His was wierd. He was asked to drink 16 ounces of olive oil. A lot of colonics are simply enemas, but with mega amounts of warm, purified water.

Some foks swear by this stuff. Some (a lot, I’m told) of medical proffessionals say it’s hoqwash.

So, how do feel about them? Have you had one? would you have another one? I’d especially like to hear from medical professionals here.

I’m not a medical professional and I’m don’t do colonics. I find it amazing that people think they can improve on years and years of evolution. Then again, there are a lot of strange folks walking the streets.

Personally, I think the human body does what it needs to do pretty well without intervention, for the most part. If something isn’t working, you seek professional help. If you think you can make it work better, maybe you need to rethink. <shrug>

Have you checked the archives? I did a search on “colonics” and got 19 hits.

Quackwatch.com is a good place to investigate all sorts of dubious medical procedures:

Nay! Nay! Nay!

For all the reasons cited at quackwatch, and then some!

QtM, MD

I pass.

OMG!

I just read the Quackwatch link provided, and the “Reader Protest” at the bottom has to be one of the funniest things I’ve ever read!

To wit:

Rather crappy subject, wouldn’t you say?

Personally, I think that it is all just a bunch of sh*t.

Ah crap, everyone already used all the sh!tty jokes I was going to use.

I guess that this thread is a washout .
