high colonics

I have frequently wonder what, exactly, a high colonic is. Is there, for example, a low colonic. I know it has something to do with new age health and such, but exactly what it is remains a mystery to me. If anyone could enlighten me I would appreciate it.

Are you referring about this column by Cecil Adams?

Does colonic irrigation do you any good?

Under the assumption that’s what’s meant, I am closing this here and moving this to the appropriate forum: Comments on Cecil’s columns.

If he doesn’t want to be a moderator, can we at least make Arnold the Chief Librarian of the SDMB?

I already told Arnold that I wish I could at least make him an honorary moderator. His assistance in providing links is vastly appreciated.
Thanks, Arnold.

You’re welcome folks, I like to do what little I can. Instead of honorary moderator, though, can I be known as “best poster named after a swiss independence hero with the initials AW” ?

For a high colonic, instead of just pumping water into the rectum like a plain enema, they run a hose up and pump the water all the way into the transverse colon, perhaps even ascending colon. Thus “high” means way up the colon.

All I gotta say is : EWWWWWW.
