What in the name of heaven are our children being taught?
In this article the desire of a freshman at Freedom High School to establish a Caucasian Club garnered in excess of 300 signatures supporting the idea.
Some others got their panties in a wad over the concept, and the girl has since left this bastion of equality and education, owing to her treatment.
My double standard alarm went off as I was reading the article, as other ethnicities have their own clubs-what was wrong with what this young lady proposed?
Nothing. It’s a double standard, of course. If it involves white people, the NAACP is generally against it. They suck like that. MLK is probably rolling in his grave over what they have become.
Everyone should know by now; It’s perfectly fine to stomp on white people. All other races have never been racists. They are all victims. She should have know better to speak up and demand equality; it simply won’t happen.
Funny, at my University just such a “Caucasian Club” has also been started. Interesting coincidence.
Anyway, I don’t see the problem with it. Count me in with the “double standard” people. Although I do think its pretty pointless, I also believe in the equal application of free speech.
I think the point that is trying to be passed along is why should it be allowable for individuals to have clubs which allow for the promotion of ‘(insert non-white ethnicity) pride’ while shitting on white people for trying to do the same thing. Think about it this way. The NAACP is a ‘bastion of racial equality’ whereas most folks see the National Association of White People as a racist group. The two organizations have virtually identical idiologies and charters, yet one is ‘good’ and one is ‘bad.’ In the end, I think that all groups such as these ‘white pride’ groups as well as the NAACP cause a fracturing along racial and gender lines and ill serve the people of the USA as a whole.
BTW, why isn’t this in GD? I don’t see the OP as being a ‘pit’ post.
I haven’t commented on other minority clubs, but since you mention it those monorities have historically had to deal with issues that white people haven’t. It has been somewhat necessary for certain racial and ethnic minorities to band together to help promote social justice
Anybody who wants to promote “White Pride,” on the other hand, is just a fucking idiot.
I debated where to post, and thought it wiser to start in the pit, as the topic was/is controversial and perhaps harsh language might ensue. If that was a poor choice on my part, I apologize.
Do I understand you correctly? You’re telling me that everybody else can tout the achievements of their socioethnic group, and I must sit on the curb with my peers, watching the parade, forbidden to participate?
Actually, a good idea. Better than getting it move to the pit, neh?
Diogenes,
Not meaning to disagree with you here, but I disagree. While you’re right, that in the past other ‘non-white’ ethnicities have had to band together, for the most part the hardest part of that struggle has (thank god) been religated to the past. One thing you said (the white pride comment at the end of your post) has kind of kicked off a question in my head. I’ve heard groups say that “every day is ‘white history’ day” (in refrence to Black History month) that “We should focus on minority acheivements because white achivements are celebrated everywhere” and other comments of that same kind.
My question is, if minorties are so quick to point this out, why are they equally as quick to cry ‘racist’ when a white person says ‘yep, I’m proud of that.’ ?
Because it’s a stupid thing to be proud of. Have you ever seen anyone who felt the need to talk about his pride in being white who didn’t make your skin crawl?
“White” is a relatively meaningless term anyway. Ther really is no such thing as “white” or “caucasian” culture. I wouldn’t have such a problem with some sort of legitimate ethnic club like an Irish or Italian or Swedish club. 'Caucasian," though really only means that you have light skin. It has no other connotation. I think it’s stupid to form clubs based on nothing but skin color.
